It's almost the end of the week. And $2 PBRs, sloppy babes, dark dudes, and dirty leather jackets sounds like a good time. Well, start counting down the hours -- roughly 10 -- until 30 NE 14th Street fills with all your favorite Friday shit.
For tomorrow night, Fridays at the Vagabond has drafted Miami rockers Rebel, so expect lots of ringing guitar noise, a touch of skuzzy distortion, some jangle, dancey drums, and vaguely British vocals. It's good music for boozing, making out, and chainsmoking.
See the cut for a free download and some vids.
If you haven't already caught this crew's riffage at Churchill's, the Road, or one of Miami's more off-the-grid joints, meet the band: It's Migue on vocals, ax, and keys with bass guy Carlos Jorge and drummer A.J.
Back in September 2007, these three released an EP called Televisible. The lead single "Rise" was loaded with hyperactive highhats that made a lot of impressionable young females want to dance until their pants fell off.
Now, three years later, those girls are grown up. But they still need to party their way out of uncomfortable clothing. And lucky for them, Rebel just cut its follow-up, INTRCPTR. (Get a taste below.) The band will bring the hihats and copies of the new EP. We'll bring the cigarettes and beer.
