October 27, 2010
Fillmore Miami Beach
Thanks to last January's merger between music industry monoliths Ticketmaster and Live Nation (not to mention a couple of other iceberg-sized shifts in the touring climate), October 2010 might've been the best 31 days of live music in Miami's history.
You had Slayer, Massive Attack, MGMT ... And ending that month-long blitz of amazing shows was French foursome Phoenix at the Fillmore.
What we said:
And since this was Phoenix's last North American show, the band wanted to end on a high note. Mars sang part of their last song, "1901," from the back of the floor and crowd surfed back to the stage. Before reaching it, he tossed his microphone into the audience, and then invited everyone on stage. We were nearly trampled in the moment, but it was worth the high price of admission.
