Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Forward Motion Records CEO and Dreaming in Stereo frontman Fernando Perdomo.

The musician's mother, Araceli Perdomo, died last night after a five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 66 years old.

Like her son, Araceli Perdomo was a local celebrity. She was a popular columnist and editor at El Nuevo Herald, and recipient of the Herald Legend Award.

Fernando Perdomo tells us his mother died peacefully at her home as he played "Afro-Cuban Lullaby" by her beside. "She was visited by many local musicians," he added, many of whom provided "therapeutic home concerts."

Next week, Forward Motion Records is celebrating its one year anniversary with a special charity concert at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale. Perdomo says that show will also serve as his mother's memorial. He says, "I would like people to donate money to cancer research."

Funeral services for Araceli Perdomo will be held on Friday, September 23, at Bernardo Garcia Funeral Home, 8215 Bird Rd., Miami, with services beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 10. A memorial mass will also take place at Our Lady of the Divine Providence Catholic Church, 10205 W. Flagler St., at 11:30 a.m., followed by a burial at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th St.
