Solos are boring. Encores are predictable. And opening bands suck.
Thankfully, Grand Central and Idle Hands Bookings have cooked up a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am showcase that dumps a cinder block on the accelerator and let's that bad boy ride right off the edge of the circle pit.
And did we mention that two-thirds of the lineup is comprised of bonafide punk rock legends?
LA's OFF! is a hardcore supergroup featuring members from an eclectic sampling of post-punk outfits like Burning Brides, Red Kross, Rocket From the Crypt, and Hot Snakes, not to mention Circle Jerks/Black Flag vocalist, Keith Morris.
Their less-than-a-minute rabid dog freakouts have thoroughly supplanted Fucked Up as the number one hardcore band for people who don't really listen to hardcore. And their prescence on the Grand Central stage will be something akin to Night at the Museum, only the reanimated relics are mosh-pit grandpappys.
And if the thought of jumping rope with Morris's dreads isn't enough, Midwest '80s hardcore bruisers Negative Approach seal the deal.
Lately, Grand Central has really been picking up the rock 'n roll bookings lately. And we've gotta say, we're fucking lovin' it!
Off! and Negative Approach. With Double Negative. Wednesday, September 26. Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $15 plus fees via fla.vor.us. Call 305-377-2277 or visit grandcentralmiami.com.
