'Cause Miami New Times just became the musical party planner for the Coconut Grove Arts Festival.

Today, CGAF (that's the fest's catchy new acronym, pronounced see-gaf) announced the New Times Music Showcase, a three-day, main-stage lineup of over a dozen national and local bands set to perform February 14 to 16 at Peacock Park during this year's 52nd annual event.

Every Presidents' Day long weekend, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival lures thousands of folks to Miami's original hippie hipster hood for a full weekend of art, food, music, theater, and other kinds of fun.

CGAF -- stretching for an entire mile from McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive, and Pan American Drive to Peacock Park -- packs the Grove with over 360 artsy types and the people who love them.

And this year, the New Times Music Showcase will be adding about 15 rock, ska, Latin, blues, funk, and soul bands to the party plan.

Earlier this afternoon, the partnership was officially revealed by Coconut Grove Arts Festival president Monty Trainer and New Times publisher Adam Simon.

"The board of the Arts Festival is committed to enhancing the quality of the event each and every year, and we are thrilled to partner with Miami New Times on the live music," Trainer said. "I know that our attendees will enjoy the fresh, new energy that Miami New Times will bring to the Arts Festival."

And Simon echoed the prez' feelings. "We are very excited about this year's partnership. New Times has the pulse of the local music scene, and by curating the music lineup, the hopes are to put a spotlight and new excitement into one of the many elements that make up this great festival."

Look out for the New Times Music Showcase's full three-day lineup in early 2015.

But till then... Peacock it. Buy tix. And we'll see you at CGAF.
