When we close the book on this decade, I am willing to bet Nick Diamonds will be mentioned among the names of the most influential music makers of the 00's. Through his work in lo-fi indie-pop outfit the Unicorns, into his most recent incarnation with the band Islands, Mr. Diamonds has established himself as a leading pop savant. His work will probably be viewed next to other eccentrics like Sufjan Stevens and Kevin Barnes from Of Montreal.

With a new album out (Vapours, on -Anti records) the band has taken to the road in support of what might be a life-affirming tour for music snobs. They open for the Madchester madcaps of The Happy Mondays, and the Psychedelic Furs, who for a band known stateside as a one-hit-wonder (the theme song for Pretty in Pink), have a pretty deep catalog full of great songs.

After the jump, get the full details about the show, as well as an MP3 of the Islands song "No You Don't," the second track off Vapours.

The Happy Mondays. With the Psychedelic Furs and Islands. Tuesday, September 29. Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Show starts at 7 p.m., tickets cost $23. 954-727-0950; jointherevolution.net
