When people talk about Miami, there's a lot of things that come to mind. But jazz is not usually among them.
The 305 is definitely more popular for its late-night dance spots and beach bars than its jazz clubs. For many, it may come as a surprise to learn that there are plenty of places around town where talented musicians get together to channel their inner Louis Armstrong.
Here are the five best places to kick back, chill, and enjoy some live jazz in Miami.

The Corner
This year's Best of Miami winner for jazz night was obviously going to be included on our list. It's weird to think that the same place where drunken Miamians go to party in the late hours of the night also offers improvisational syncopation sessions. Every Tuesday night at the Corner is jazz night. There's always a different mix of musicians, and it's always dope.
Lagniappe
One of Midtown's hidden gems. It's a small market-like bar that seems as though it was brought in from Europe. There's not a lot of places like Lagniappe in the 305. And every Sunday night, the joint's got some kick-ass live jazz. You go in, get yourself some food and drinks, and then lounge.

Churchill's
Monday nights at Churchill's are a beautiful mess. We've written about the pub's open-mic night, but what we didn't elaborate on was its Miami Jazz Jam. Although far from your traditional jazz lounge, Churchill's transforms into a venue for smooth listening. Musicians rotate constantly and the freestyle jams are never-ending. There's a $5 cover, but you'll certainly be entertained.
The Globe
Do not miss Saturday night jazz, every week at the Globe. Although not particularly on the cheap side, the drinks are reasonably priced and the food is delicious. There's no cover, but you've got to spend at least $20 while you're there. It's definitely worth it when you consider the awesome jazz musicians this spot's constantly luring to its stage.
Le Chat Noir
Live jazz in the cellar Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. That's a whole lot of jazz. And this place is very European, if you didn't already get that from the name. Sample fine cheeses and drink expensive wine while you enjoy wonderful jazz musicians. It's the closest thing to Paris in Miami. And it's definitely cheaper than a plane ticket to France.
