After two kids, a decade-long courtship, and zero NBA championships, LeBron James has finally asked high-school sweetheart Savannah Brinson for her hand in marriage.

Having turned 27 years old approximately 24 hours earlier, King James manned up, took a knee, and proposed to Brinson during New Year's Eve dinner at the Shelborne South Beach's Vesper American Brasserie.

Meanwhile, off in the distance at the Shelborne's swanky new SL Nightclub, Lauryn Hill (presumably) sang "Killing Me Softly."

With wedding bells and The Big Three Boy Band's "All of the Lights" in the wind, news of LeBron's not-so-surprise engagement was being spread via Twitter as Miami Heat honcho Micky Arison chimed in, "Congrats to Lebron. @KingJames and Savannah so happy 4 u guys," and Los Angeles Clippers superstar Chris Paul offered his own congratulations tweet to the Jameses.

Back in a standing position, the two-time MVP groom-to-be accompanied his fiancée and all kinds of famous friends -- Dwyane Wade and GF-slash-actress Gabrielle Union, Chris Bosh and wifey Adrienne, not to mention Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Queen Latifah, and Fat Joe -- to Ms. Hill's NYE party.

They all glugged bubbly, exchanged back pats at midnight, and toasted the shortened 66-game NBA season while Hill and special surprise guest Nas serenaded the James with (presumably) "If I Ruled the World."
