Even though 2006 inductees Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols might think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is "a piss stain" that charges too much for dinner and a gala, there are plenty of "music industry people" (i.e. not gaping A-holes) who'd be happy to grab a decent dinner while basking in the glory of a career-capping achievement.
You know, like krautrock crew Kraftwerk. And the 14 other nominees for the Hall's 2013 class.

"This place is made of rock." So naturally, there's a whole whack of blues rockers, prog rockers, art rockers, heavy rockers, and badass chick rockers among this year's nominees, including The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Rush, Procol Harum, Deep Purple, and Heart, as well as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
But the Hall's also repping hardcore and gangsta rap with the nomination of Public Enemy and N.W.A., two essential crews that broke with '80s hip-hop orthodoxy, bringing political outrage and gangbanging to the radio while breeding legends of the game like Chuck D, Flava Flav, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and the long-deceased Eazy-E.
And of course, you've got those aforementioned Autobahn automatons Kraftwerk; not to mention dearly departed disco queen Donna Summer; Le Freaks of Chic; sometimes caustic, sometimes Disney-fied singer-songwriter Randy Newman; late, great Mississippi bluesman Albert King; Motown girl group The Marvelettes; and NOLA funk masters The Meters.
Now, we still gotta wait six months for the names of 2013's actual inductees. But no matter who makes the cut and who gets passed over ... At least Johnny Rotten won't be there, shitting on your dinner plate.
