Are you totally confused by the phrase "video game music video"?

Well, you're not alone. But as succinctly defined by the VGMV pioneers over at gamer geeksite Machinima: "Video game footage + real songs from real bands = 'Video Game Music Videos.'"

Seems like busy work for bored teenagers. But apparently, VGMVs are gonna be the next big internet time waster. And so, following the standard formula, Machinima director Kootra presents: Borderlands + The Crystal Method = "Play For Real."

Honestly, we here at Crossfade find it kinda dorky that Identity Festival featured artists Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan of The Crystal Method are getting into the video game music video biz.

But like all Xbox addicts, Scotty and Ken must've just found themselves -- at one time or another -- locked in a hot, dark basement stoking their sugar highs and raging through a first-person, role-playing shooter (i.e. blasting the guts and brains out of zombies and monsters) while thinking, Dude, this slaughter action really needs a less shitty soundtrack.
