All the big bands out there have done benefit concerts or performances to help the community, so it seems fitting that Miami's local talent takes a stab at it.

Hit Play!, Arsenal88, and Araka will team up with high school bands Your Favorite Franchise, Audacity, and Not From Concentrate at the German American Club this Saturday to help raise money for Sandor Wiener School of Opportunity. The school provides education and therapy to students with intellectual disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

"One of the other bands, Arsenal88 — their singer Andres and his wife teach at the school, and they approached us with the idea of raising money to help the families and the school itself," says Gaston de la Vega, bassist of Hit Play! Rock, punk, ska, reggae, and hip-hop will combine in this impromptu battle of the bands, as each act will hold its own in order to raise money for a worthy cause. If you miss this back-to-back band chaos, Hit Play! also has a few other shows scheduled, including its first acoustic performance at 7 p.m. May 27 at Hot Topic in Dolphin Mall.
