Who the funk is Lo Down Loretta Brown?
She is Erykah Badu's DJ'ing alter ego. And she's coming for Art Basel Miami Beach week.
With just days till total Basel madness, Ms. Low Down Is packing her bags, picking her wigs, and stacking her wax for an #ABMB set as part of the BET Art Lounge at Mana Wynwood Production Village.

Though Badu's been known to grab the mic and sing an original cut or two during Lo Down sets, she'll likely spend most of the night behind the decks.
After all, she says, an alter ego's all about exploring a new identity and a fresh vibe.
"The name Loretta Brown came from a movie called Cooley High, a cult '70s film about coming of age for young black kids in high school," the neo-soul icon has explained.
"And I wanted to separate that energy, Erykah Badu's frequency, from what I do when I'm spinning."
Now, it won't be Badu's debut as Loretta Brown in Miami.
She's previously rocked Midtown party spot Bardot. And she's also popped up a few more times 'round the 305.
But this is Basel. There's gonna be an even higher-than-normal number of R&B, soul, and hip-hop stars wandering Miami's city streets. And it's a BET party too.
So expect special guests, famous friends, and some deep soul cuts. No doubt.
