A lot of kids have dreams, and we're all told to shoot for the stars, but the unfortunate reality is a lot of us get lost along the way.
Well, the Cocodrills guys must have found some magic map, because they never wavered or wandered while reaching for the sky. After years of hard work and looking up, they finally landed in Space -- and on the Terrace, no less.
Starting this weekend, as part of a new exclusive residency, these homegrown dance music stars, Adam Cruz and Christian Diaz, will be spending at least two Saturdays a month taking control of the decks at the legendary downtown Miami nightclub.

"We feel honored, humbled," Cruz says. "We've come so far. We used to be on that dance floor many years ago and aspiring to hopefully be up there in the DJ booth one day."
Diaz adds: "We grew up at Space. It's a goal on our list. We worked very hard and the opportunity came along and we decided to have that exclusive contract and just be more focused on a venue that we could make our home. It's where we're going to be. Everyone is going to know this is the home of Cocodrills."
For the duo, this achievement may have felt like a long time coming. But in the grand scheme of things, they reached that hallowed DJ booth without much delay.
Cruz and Diaz got their first residency at Electric Pickle four years ago, eventually moving the party to Treehouse, but without ever compromising their signature style. That's what always brought them success, and that's what they're going to bring to the Terrace.
"We're just going to do what we've been doing since day one," Cruz says, "and that's play the music that we love and have a good time and bring that classic essence with a new modern feel."
Diaz agrees: "We like to teach the new generation, bring in a little of the classic flavor. We give a lot of love and respect to the people that paved the way for us and all the artists that have been residents at Space in the past."
That's how the cycle goes: young kids see DJs at Space, young kids start DJing, new DJs grow up and cop the coveted Space residency. So too will Cocodrills inspire future legions of house heads to hop on the decks.
However, Cruz and Diaz won't have to entirely give up dancing to their favorite DJs. Sure, some weeks they'll be too busy playing marathon Saturday-night sets. But other times, Space will still be booking special guests and national acts, giving them plenty of chances to relive those old days on the other side.
"You'll find us on the dance floor," Cruz says. "A lot."
