Who would win a bare-knuckle cage fight between Ringo Starr and Keith Richards? We're not sure. Richards has survived every narcotic known to man, and Ringo is the greatest pop music drummer ever.
We're pretty sure they'd just punch each other in the face till they ran out of breath, then get bored, have a pint, and end up trading stories from the road.
But when it comes to the Beatles vs. the Stones, a night of cover songs by some of
the best players in Dade County, we're pretty sure that everybody wins.
Especially in the historic upstairs lounge at the Van Dyke Cafe, which has hosted
so much blazing music over the years that we're surprised it hasn't caught fire. Good
thing they've got air conditioning 'cause next Monday's music should be hotter
than a sauna in a sweatshop. Watch as Jim Camacho, Fernando Perdomo, Dave Jacobs, Oscar Ferrer, and special guests perform the greatest hits by both bands.
Here is a video of the Beatles recording the song "Get Back" with a couple cutaways of the Rolling Stones watching them.
And here's a clip of John Lennon and Mick Jagger on drugs
Beatles vs. the Stones. Monday, April 25. Van Dyke Cafe, 846 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. The show starts at 9 p.m. and admission costs $5. Call 305-534-3600 or visit thevandykecafe.com.
