Fort Lauderdale Woman's Club

In the midst of a one-of-a-kind election year, pack a lunch and join Michelle Foster Sammartino for a historical look at the women’s suffrage movement during the early 20th century. As “First Lady” of Fort Lauderdale, Ivy Stranahan served as a leader of the suffrage movement in Florida. Discover the role she played through letters, photos, and other archival documents found in the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society collections. Michelle will illuminate Ivy’s determination alongside other key players in the quest for women’s voting rights, which ultimately led to the passage of the 19th amendment in 1919. After the program, attendees can enjoy guided tours of the Historic Stranahan House Museum at 2-for-1 admission pricing at 1, 2, and 3 p.m.
