Today's 12-12-12, not that you didn't already know; TV and Internet news sources seem to be treating it either as a bonus holiday or a Mayan apocalypse training run -- or both -- since this is the last repeating date most of us are likely to see in our lifetimes.
But while most people see today's date as a repetitive but ultimately meaningless series of numbers, we see it as an excuse to celebrate the number 12 in all its Miami iterations -- plenty of which are too embarrassing to do more than once a century. And yes, there are more of them than you might think.
Read on for 12 ways to celebrate 12-12-12 in Miami today.
1. Go relax on the 12th St. Beach
It'll be extra-relaxing today, because with the Art Basel crowds gone and the overcast weather, you'll be the only one there.
2. Ride the 120 Bus
It'll get you to the Miami Art Museum, main branch library, and Bal Harbour shops, where you can spend $12. Just kidding, nothing in Bal Harbour is that cheap.
3. Rent a 12-passenger Limo
Like we said, the crowds are gone, meaning now's your chance to live the European tourist dream of cruising down Ocean Drive in a rented luxury vehicle.
4. Eat at the 12th St. Diner
By which we mean, get take out from the 11th St. Diner and eat it a block north.
5. Bet it all on 12 at Magic City Casino
So what if you lose it all? The world's going to end next week anyway.
6. Call in to 1260am
Not recommended if you don't speak Spanish.
7. Coach the Miami Dolphins in Madden '12
You'll do a hell of a lot better than the real Fins have managed lately.
8. Or Just Watch the Dolphins/Jets Game From 12/12/10
It's 12-12-12-related, and you get to watch the Jets eat it. Win-win.
9. Donate $12
It's Give Miami Day, after all.
10. Eat at Prime One Twelve
This really only applies to you if you're a Real Housewife or if #5 in our list pays off.
11. Shop at Dolphin Mall
Because it's in District 12, and is a place where you could actually spend just $12.
12. Get Married
Hell, everyone else is.
