First of all, it’s happening on the beach — at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, to be precise. And as for what you’ll be watching the game on? Well, there will be a massive boat parked just offshore, with a mammoth 46-foot screen mounted on it for all to gawk at.
It’s all part of Ballyhoo Media’s first-ever Super Bowl Beach Party this Sunday, from 3 to 11 p.m.
“It’s going to be a full-on party vibe,” said Nate Shapiro, director of business development of Ballyhoo, a local advertising
In addition to the game, Wynwood regulars and reggae-ers Kulcha Shok will jam throughout the day. Along the beach, Ballyhoo Media will also have games galore, including KanJam, cornhole, beer pong, and Jenga.
On the grub front, there will be a number of food vendors on site, like Granny B’z Chicken and Waffles and Needa Pita. Concrete Beach will be on hand with kegs of beer.
To minimize the environmental footprint of what is sure to be a wild day, the organizers have partnered with the Surfrider Foundation on eco-conscious components.
“We won’t have any plastic bottles or single-use plastics,” said Shapiro. “And a percentage of the proceeds will be going toward the [Surfrider Foundation].”
If you’re having flashbacks of seeing a big screen on a boat elsewhere around town, Ballyhoo also held a watch shindig at the Haulover Sandbar in 2018 for the World Cup Final. The company is currently exploring locations throughout South Florida for movie nights.
But for now, Fins' fans, just enjoy the incredibly scenic opportunity to root against Tom Brady.
