What a rough week for Hollywood legends. The world lost two greats -- Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall -- in the span of just a couple days. And South Florida was lucky enough to be touched by them both; Williams filmed The Birdcage at The Carlyle on South Beach, and Bacall starred in the classic noir Key Largo, filmed in part in the Florida Keys with her love Humphrey Bogart.
Fans have mourned all week, with special events all across the country, including at The Palace bar and The Carlyle in Miami. But now it's the weekend, so it's time to stop marathoning Aladdin and trying to imitate Bacall's flawless, sultry voice (you can't) and time to start celebrating.
As Bacall would say, "What's the alternative? ... I would prefer to prevail."
