Ever feel like your hair is not big enough? That it could be bigger and bolder? Maybe you’re just living in the wrong decade. Fluff up that do and put on your best sequined duds, because the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray is heading to Coconut Grove. It’s a big musical with big laughs and, of course, even bigger hair.
You might have seen the 2007 movie, but nothing beats a live performance. Paige Buade stars as Tracy in this rendition; William Valdes, host of Univision’s Despierta America, plays the male lead role of Link (the one Zac Efron played in the flick); and in true musical fashion, the role of Edna Turnblad is played by actor Tony Hernandez, dressed fabulously in drag. Sing along to “Good Morning Baltimore” at the Ransom Everglades Theater (3575 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove) this Saturday at 8 p.m. or Sunday at 2 or 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 to $35.
