The squeamish need not apply. But if you like some barbarism with your sports spectating (and who doesn't), then sign up for a chance to win two free tickets to the Bellator 46 Fighting Championships at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino next week. Who knows you might even catch some flying blood on your own mug if you get close enough to the action.

Sure, mixed martial arts can be brutal. But we challenge skeptics to find another sport that requires as much skill as two men locked in an octagon with only what God gave them (and some light padding) trying to knock the each other silly. Read on to see how to get the tickets.

Before we go on, let's just say plenty of studies have shown that

mixed-martial arts is no more brutal, in terms of injuries and deaths,

than many other sport. Plus, you have about a thousand times more

chances of dying violently on I-95 on your way to the Seminole Hard

Rock than you do while participating in the sport.

Okay, so we made that

stat up, but we're pretty sure its kind of accurate. There already have

been plenty of defenses of the sport, including this one, so we don't

need to go into them.

But even if the statistics and science shows that mixed martial arts is

just another sport, it's hard to shake the feeling that enjoying the

fighting appeals to the not-so-pleasant aspects of human beings -- the

same parts of us that think war is cool or think watching people get

gunned in movies is similarly rad.

That's where you come in. Give us a short defense or condemnation of the

sport and you could win two tickets. But please, make your responses

short. We don't want a scientific exploration of the merits or lack

thereof.  We're looking for statements like: "Anybody who

doesn't like MMA is a pussy!" or "People who like MMA are troglodytes."

You know, stuff like that, except more clever.

To win the two free tickets to the show you must like Cultist on

Facebook and leave your comment (on Facebook, not this post) defending or attacking MMA. We'll pick a

winner on Wednesday, June 22 at 3 p.m. The winner must be able to pick

up the tickets at the New Times office at 4500 Biscayne Boulevard

Thursday or Friday during business hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Good luck.

Bellator 46 Fighting Championshis takes place Saturday, June 25 at 7:30

p.m at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Hotel (1 Seminole Way,

Hollywood). Tickets cost $25.Call 312-245-9805 or visit bellator.com for
