This summer, Primary Projects teamed up with artists Typoe and Christina Gonzalez to take their Miami art mission to Chicago. The result: a shopping center covered in public art by the likes of FriendsWithYou, Jen Stark, and Bert Rodriguez.
There was just one drawback: you had to travel all the way up to Chicago to see it for yourself.
But the next best thing is coming to Miami in 2014. The Miami International Film Festival announced this week that it'll premiere a series of short documentary films about the art installation during its run in March.

Commissioned by the Arts Initiative (the same organization that commissioned the shopping center project), the 11 documentaries each follow one of the artists as s/he create the work to add a dose of culture to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago.
In addition to the project's Miami curators, many of the artists who installed their work at the outlets are Miami-based or had Miami beginnings: Bhakti Baxter, Jim Drain, and Andrew Nigon still work from Miami, while Friendswithyou, Jen Stark, Bert Rodriguez, Daniel Arsham, Alvaro Ilibarbe, and Austyn Weiner all launched their careers in South Florida before moving elsewhere.
The films' Miami connections don't end there, either. Each is produced and directed by the Wet Heat Project, also based in Miami.
Each of the films will be shown separately at MIFF, preceding the festival's feature-length documentary films in its Knight Documentary Competition program.
