Let's be real -- some of the best ideas in the world are born out of bottles. Autralian-born comedienne Caroline Reid certainly owes a lot to a wild night and some vodka.

One night, she dressed up as a Pan Am hostess and had some friends over for a party. But as the liquor kept flowing and the fun turned up, the familiar words got twisted and a new ego was born.

Now, Reid is more recognizable in her flashy, sequined '60s get up, and fans all over the world flock to be loved and berated by the larger than life "hostess with the mostess," Pam Ann.

The flashy, sassy alter-ego will swoop in and take charge of the stage at the Colony Theatre Miami Beach for two shows Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7. But just because Pam Ann is a character doesn't mean Reid is living a double life. She thinks the shtick only works because the character and the personality is so real to her own life.

"I guess it's a vehicle for me to say what I'm thinking on a stage that I can't say in my real life," she said.

In fact, the birth of this star was so unplanned, it was a drunken accident. But Reid thinks that's kind of the best way.

"I'm such a believer in everything has to happen organically," she said. "It wasn't expected. I always thought I was going to be a fashion designer. I never really chose comedy. In a way, it kind of chose me."

Reid designs all the over-the-top Pam Ann hostess outfits herself, with a little help from some of her designer friends. In fact, she takes care of everything herself, from the wigs to the make-up to the crazy things she says.

She's had huge success all across the world, but now she's ready for something bigger. She's thrilled to be taking her show on the road all over the United States. She'll be calling it like she sees it for a whole new audience. It's kind of a big deal.

"I like the challenge," she said. "I just got my green card so it just all means a lot to me on every level."

And wouldn't you know it, Pam Ann loves Miami. She may be looking forward to this show more than any other -- for a few different reasons.

"I had the best times in Miami and I mean, I'm sorry, everyone's hot there," she said. "You can't come there with low self-esteem -- or a boyfriend. You just need to come on your own in dental floss."

Pam Ann Cockpit! USA Tour 2013 Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7, at the Colony Theatre Miami Beach, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $50 to $55 plus fees via ticketmaster.com. Call 800-745-3000 or visit colonytheatremiamibeach.com.
