O.H.W.O.W. has been around for less than two years, but it's already gained an international reputation. So much so that Juxtapoz magazine named it the 26th best gallery or museum in the entire world.
To give you an idea of how impressive the honor is, the Louvre -- yes the Louvre, with the Mona Lisa and the Venus De Milo and all that jazz -- sits just five places ahead of O.H.W.O.W. at 21.
"This gallery doesn't get the recognition it often deserves. Located in the middle of Miami, O.H.W.O.W. doesn't just shine during December's Art Basel, but routinely puts out off-beat exhibits and books (it's a publishing house too) with big names like Neckface, David Lynch, Keiichi Nitta, and more," Juxtapoz says.
It's impressive, but Our House West of Wynwood wasn't the highest-ranked gallery in Florida. That honor went to a place called Bold Hype in Orlando. It's hard not to read that, coupled with the fact that there are no other Miami galleries on the lists, as a claim that maybe Orlando is all of a sudden the new art mecca of the Southeast. Please.
