One week. Seven Days. One hundred sixty eight hours. Ten thousand eighty minutes... you get the idea. Time is running out for you to submit to this year's New Times Mastermind Awards, earning you a shot at winning one of the three $1,000 grants we're giving away to local artists, filmmakers, musicians, and other creatives.
Yes, time is short -- but not as short as the time it takes to submit. All you have to do is email us a few easy details about your work.
Read on for more information and directions on how to submit.
New Times' Mastermind Awards seeks to give back to Miami's cultural community in the form of city-wide recognition and some sweet, sweet cash. Last year, New Times' editors and experts from the 305's cultural community selected three winners from among nearly 150 hopefuls: experimental arts collective The End/SPRING BREAK; Internet-obsessed artist and filmmaker Jillian Mayer; and DIY punk label Drugged Conscience Records.
This year, we're continuing the search for the best artists, musicians, filmmakers, and other culture producers in the Magic City. Mastermind grants of $1,000 will be given to this year's winners at Artopia, New Times' annual arts soiree, on Feb. 28. But to be considered, you have to let us know who you are. Here's how to apply.
To be considered, send us the below before January 17:
- Your name
- Contact info: phone, email, and home address
- Short bio
- Description of your work
- Your Artwork, either via a link to a website or in emailed images
Email all of the above to [email protected] by January 17. Finalists will be announced February 14, and winners will be announced at our annual art soiree, Artopia, on Feb. 28. Good luck!
