To date, Tigertail has commissioned, presented and produced more than 500 local, national, and international artists, raising the bar on the city's evolving cultural scene while becoming known for discovering fresh talent.
Tomorrow, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tigertail is launching its new season with a ribald performance by New York's inflatable art vamp, Pat Oleszko who will unabashedly make a spectacle of herself at the Wynwood Walls, behind Joey's Restaurant where revelers are invited to create their own murals.
"Funny, witty, outrageous Pat Oleszko is simply the grande dame of performance art," says Mary Luft, Tigertail's founder and executive director. "She is a true original, creating performances and installations with inflatable art pieces for over 25 years."
Oleszko, who's cut a sassy swathe from down-n-dirty burlesque palaces to the Big Apple's Museum of Modern Art, is an unrepentant comic and social critic who's films, installations and performances combine references to trees, breasts, butts, pachyderms and fingers in an outrageous repertoire embodying Tigertail's slogan for the season, "ExpectedUnexpected."
Tigertail will be offering season tickets and other prizes during their raucous bash which is free to the public. Afterwards attendees can snag some chow at Joey's or the neighboring Wynwood Kitchen & Bar at a 15% discount. Call 305-324-4337 or visit tigertail.org.
