South Beach will be infiltrated next week by a man who spends the majority of his day making prank phone calls, accompanied by a four-foot, three-inch tall pop culture icon. Sal Governale and single name legend Beetlejuice are integral figures on SiriusXM's Howard Stern Show, and both star in the slasher flick Girls Gone Dead, which screens Wednesday at the Colony Theatre.
The film takes the basic premise of a Girls Gone Wild filming -- with Sal playing the on-screen version of Joe Francis with Beetlejuice as his sidekick -- and combines it with murdering people. Pretty fundamental stuff, especially since it promises to pay proper homage to classic '80s slasher flicks.
Also appearing in the movie are WWE's Jerry "The King" Lawler, Ron Jeremy, Penthouse's Janessa Brazil and Ryan Keely, and Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain -- a rowdy, raunchy cast of characters.
In true Howard Stern Show fashion, Sal and Beetle will be partying after the premiere at Tootsie's Cabaret. We can only hope that Sal drinks enough to vomit in a garbage can, and Beetlejuice lives up to his adorably ridiculous antics.
Cultist reached out to Sal "The Stockbroker" about Girls Gone Dead and the Howard Stern Show.
Cultist: If this was an interview with Beetlejuice, how do you think he would describe the movie?
Sal Governale: He would say "What movie? What The fuck you talking about? I did that movie five years ago man."
This movie's cast is packed with D-list all-stars. Who surprised you the most on set?
The caterer. Food was delicious!
You and Shuli Egar, of Howard 100 News, have become the go-to whack pack wranglers. Did you have to fight other staffers for that job, or does everyone happily let you guys deal with High Pitched Eric, Beetle, etc?
Whoever can use them in a creative manner wins.
Howard asked you not to prank Beetle anymore, but did you get him while you were making the movie at all?
I put my dick in a bucket of chicken and had him reach in. Beet got even and punched me in the face. (I deserved it).
Which Stern Show staffers would most likely be a serial killer? Yourself excluded, of course.
No one. They are all great guys. A true family... dysfunction and all.
Would you ever give up working with Howard to become a full-time actor?
No.
