After eight crazy nights of awkward family moments and too much food, we're guessing many of you are ready for a little break from the holidays. While we can't exclude the festive fun from our findings altogether — it's mid-December, after all — we've got plenty of cheap entertainment this week to add some much-needed variety to your social calendars.

Monday
  • Menorah lighting at Cocowalk: Conclude your Hanukkah celebrations with the last lighting of the giant outdoor menorah
  • Phyllis Zatlin at Books & Books: The internationally published author presents her memoir, Writers to Remember: Memoirs of Friendships in Spain and France, which features anecdotes about some 30 authors including José Luis Alonso de Santos, Antonio Buero Vallejo, Ana Diosdado, and more. 
Tuesday
  • Open Mic #9 at FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios: Come see the talents of brave locals performing poetry, rap, prose, comedy, song, dance, and more. 
  • Holiday Party at The LAB Miami: Come one, come all for the drinks, bites, and ugliest Christmas sweater contest! 

Wednesday

  • Jurassic World at SoundScape: Watch Chris Pratt try to reign in a genetically modified dino monster. 
  • FP: Reads/Fashion Project Book Club at Books & Books Bal Harbour: This month's book is Infinite Variety: The Life and Legend of Marchesa Casati by Scot D. Ryersson and Michael Orlando Yaccarino, a nonfiction account of the life of the eccentric Marchesa Casati, notorious in the early 20th century for her extravagant, exhibitionist ways.

Thursday
  • Domino Nights at Concrete Beach Brewery: Enjoy some sweet Concrete brews while you destroy your domino enemies. 
  • Science Up Close: Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs at Books & Books: Frost Museum of Science invites science enthusiasts and curiosity seekers to learn more what killed off the dinosaurs at Science Up Close: Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs, featuring leading expert physicist Professor Lisa Randall.
  • Caroling at JW Marriott Miami: Enjoy singing by the Coral Gables High School choir, plus holiday sweets and beverages, and a visit from Santa. 
Friday
  • Viernes Culturales at Calle Ocho: Dance, eat, and shop in the heart of Little Havana. 
  • Big Night in Little Haiti at Little Haiti Cultural Center: Top Haitian DJ Gardy Girault leads the musical sounds of the evening, which kick off with holiday tunes by Ada.
