Let's take a little breather from Miami's woes. Sea level rise, invasive cockroaches, and undisciplined cops will certainly stick around for the near future, so we might as well use the International Day of Friendship to cheer the eff up. Instead of watching that Golden Girls marathon alone this Thursday — though that's certainly not the worst way to spend a few hours; they were besties, after all — why not grab some real humans and enjoy the city? Call up the squad, 'cause we've got a bundle of free fun at your disposal.

Monday
  • Alejandra Padilla and Chu Teppa at Diana Lowenstein Gallery: This is your last week to catch Teppa's "My Parallel Universe" and Padilla's "Collages and Drawings," both on view until Friday.
  • The Prey at Little Haiti Cultural Center: Catch a free reading of Miami playwright Gina Montet's latest work, a tale of murder in the Everglades.
  • Dunkin' Donuts #DDSummerSountrack on Ocean Drive: Stop by this free pop-up concert series, featuring alt-rock California band the Mowglis for two daytime sets.
Tuesday
  • Haiti, 100 Years Later at the New Tropic: Don't miss Big Talk, a series on democracy and women’s rights in the Caribbean, which features an interactive discussion with a panel of journalists, artists, and entrepreneurs, a short film on the history of U.S.-Haiti relations, Haitian refreshments, and live music.

Wednesday

  • UHF at Shirley's: Weird Al Yankovic takes over a struggling TV station, where spiked ratings and wackiness soon ensue.

Thursday
  • Let's Sang! at Gramps: Sang your face off and sweat out that booze.
Friday
  • '90s Flashback Fest at Churchill's: Get there before 8 p.m. for free access to your favorite South Florida bands covering '90s jams and a chance to win $100 cash in a '90s costume contest.
  • Stonly Baptiste at Palm Court Event Space: The serial entrepreneur and cofounder and principal of Urban.Us — a venture fund investing in seed and early-stage startups that make cities better — will be CreativeMornings' latest a.m. speaker.
