Tateo Nakajima's comments on this week's Riptide item about sound quality disparities at the Carnival Center Oct. 5 opening came too late to be included in the paper:
The hall has a wide range of uses, and finding a balance between those uses is an ongoing challenge. We still have a year's worth of work ahead of us, changing the surfaces of the halls to perfect the sound.Everyone is looking for a quality experience, but where you sit changes the experience. In an amplified setting (using the loud speakers), you should be not too close to the stage, at least halfway back. But not all the way back on the ground floor, (where) the sound will be absorbed.
