Sure, there's a fair amount of Art Basel events this week that seem better suited for New York Fashion Week. But while some argue that these grandiose fashion parties are not exactly art-related (cough, cough New York Times), even the most artistically astute know that fashion is, in fact, art.

So to coincide with Art Basel in Miami Beach, Del Toro opened a pop-up shop in Miami Beach. The Miami-based luxury shoes and accessories brand is known for collaborating with artists and designers to create one-of-a-kind, limited edition shoe creations. This time around, Del Toro's Co-founder and Creative Director Matthew Chevallard has teamed up with Lapo Elkann of Italia Independent to create custom-designed sunglasses and matching Chukkas.

The result? An edgy spin on classic styles that reflect the combined aesthetics of both brands. Check it:

The Chukkas have a navy velvet front panel, cobalt suede back panel, white Margom sole, Italia Independent nappa leather flag heel tab, and a laser engraved logo on the back of shoe.

The classic wayfarer style sunglasses have a navy velvet front and cobalt suede arms.

On Thursday, December 5, Del Toro will host a Wynwood Block Party in celebration of the new pop-up. The party will take place at the Del Toro headquarters, where a variety of custom 1/1 original hand-painted shoes by approximately 50 artists from around the world will be on display.

"DT Walls," an exhibition commemorating the debut of Del Toro's Art Basel collection, will also be unveiled and will feature full mural walls by six artists, including Stash, Evoca1, Michael Vasquez, Johnny Robles, and Magnus. To top it off, barbecue bites will be prepared by Henry Hane (former chef of Eating House) as well as a live musical performance by an undisclosed special guest.

Del Toro Miami Beach pop-up opens daily during Art Basel through May 2014 from 10am-11 p.m. and is located at 2000 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. For more information, visit deltoroshoes.com.
