Can't get enough Cocaine? (Cocaine Cowboys, we mean.)
Then dust yourself off and prepare for some exciting news: There's another sequel in the works to Rakontur's breakthrough documentary chronicling Miami's drug trade.
We were already feeling a little overwhelmed with the outpouring of love for Rakontur this week, what with the weeklong 10-year retrospective of the film company's work at O Cinema and all. But we're still excited to see what's coming next from Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman. And it sounds like we could see the beginnings of the new sequel, Cocaine Cowboys: Los Muchachos, as early as tomorrow night.
According to Spellman's post on the Rakontur blog:
Yes, there will be a third Cocaine Cowboys documentary. It won't be CC3 -- the working title is Cocaine Cowboys: Los Muchachos.Though there's no release date, Spellman says, the film is nearly completed. And it sounds like the filmmakers are anxious to show it off.
We've been shooting interviews for it over the past couple of years and we recently started post-production. Sam Rega, who edited Limelight and is finishing Dawg Fight, has been working with Billy and Dave to assemble a cut.
"For those of you coming on Friday night to the O Cinema retrospective, we'll probably show a teaser," Spellman writes.
So you can get your own peek at the new installment (well, probably) tomorrow night at O Cinema at 7:30. Journalist Jim DeFede will host a conversation with Corben and Spellman about their body of work. Tickets cost $14. Visit o-cinema.org.
