A no-holds-barred kickball grudge match is intense enough, but add water balloon pelting to the mix, and you've a SportsCenter moment in the making.
Next Saturday, Miami cultural collaborative Cannonball will do battle against the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) in their second annual kickball battle royale. As an added bonus, this year the crowds will have free license to chuck water balloons at participants. We're thinking wet, wild, and potentially bruisey.
The event itself, part of Downtown Art Days, is totally free and open to everyone. But if you're a spectator who wants to get in on the balloon hurling, you can score some ammo for a suggested donation.
"CIFO won last year so we're defending our title," says Eleane Gonzalez, CIFO's Marketing and Communications Manager.
"We also try to have like a family event -- people can come and join in the game," she adds.
The winner of the epic endeavor will be dubbed "best baller on the block." A title worth fighting for.
And there are no hard and fast rules. This is an interactive event, so the crowds are welcome to get involved. "We try to keep it informal -- it's supposed to be a fun filled afternoon," Gonzalez says.
As an added incentive for attendees, Perrier will provide free bevs, and Purple People Eatery and Fireman Derek food trucks will be on hand.
Plus, if you want to get your art on, Deferred Archive (the grants and commissions program exhibition at CIFO) will be open to all.
