Thursday

Paulo Nazareth is a big deal in Brazil. Now the dynamic artist is hitting the States for his first solo U.S. exhibition tour. "Melee" opens with a series of pieces that provide an alternative political history of Latin America. Among the moving items is a collection of drawings and photographs dubbed Blacks in the Pool, highlighting the discrimination of black people throughout the Americas and how public swimming pools were a focal point of the evolution of segregation. 7 p.m. Thursday through October 6 at ICA Miami, 61 NE 41st St., Miami; icamiami.org. Admission is free with RSVP. Jesse Scott

He spent more than four decades in solitary confinement for a crime he didn't commit. Albert Woodfox — who has since emerged from jail — has an absolutely incredible story. Thursday evening, he'll speak about his journey and efforts to reform solitary confinement in the United States and beyond. If you can't make it or just want to prep for the event, his new book, Solitary, is a must-read. 7 p.m. Thursday at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. Admission is free with RSVP via eventbrite.com. Jesse Scott

Friday

Pop Funhouse lets you experience the Dominican Republic without the expense of traveling there. In this interactive, Instagram-friendly exhibit, you can experience kiteboarding in the clouds, waterfalls, and the colorful murals of Puerto Plata. In eight rooms set up by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, with a name that is a play on the city's airport code, the exhibit opens Friday and continues Saturday before heading to Chicago, New York, and Boston. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Soho Studios, 2136 NW First Ave., Miami; godominicanrepublic.com/popfunhouse. Admission is free. Chuck Strouse

Electronic royalty will soon play a superintimate show in the 305. The dynamic duo of Disclosure, comprising brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, will spin at Space late-night Friday. The house/deep-house masters have a third studio album in the works, the first since 2015's Caracal was nominated for the best dance/electronica album Grammy. 11 p.m. Friday at Space, 34 NE 11th St., Miami. Tickets cost $50 via residentadvisor.net. Jesse Scott

There's much more to Canadian hip-hop than Drake. Stop being so damn basic. Case in point: 88Glam. Composed of Toronto's Derek Wise and 88 Camino, this duo came on strong in 2017 and hasn't backed off. This Friday, 88Glam will spit at Floyd as part of the duo's Twin Turbo Tour. If you haven't yet been subjected to the Glam goodness, its 2017 self-titled mixtape is gold, as is 88Glam 2, the 2018 followup. 7 p.m. Friday at Floyd, 34 NE 11th St., Miami. Tickets cost $20 via eventbrite.com. Jesse Scott

The iconic host of The Arsenio Hall Show is coming for us. Who is that, you ask? Arsenio Hall, duh. The actor/comedian is a few years removed from his late-night talk-show days, but he's still staying busy. In addition to doing his standup gigs, he's recently appeared alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Hudson in the Netflix flick Sandy Wexler and as himself in Real Husbands of Hollywood. 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Miami Improv, 3450 NW 83rd Ave., Suite 224, Doral; miamiimprov.com. Tickets cost $30. Jesse Scott

If you have yet to experience the wonder that is an Otto von Schirach and the Bermuda Triangle Family show, what are you waiting for? The Miami-bass/Cuban-funk outfit always puts on an interesting and entertaining spectacle. Plus, Otto bills himself as "half Cuban Native Indian, half German Anunnaki wolf that was born in the third point of the Bermuda Triangle." If you don't find that intriguing, you might be dead. 10 p.m. Friday at Bar Nancy, 2007 SW Eighth St., Miami. Admission is free. Jesse Scott

Saturday

Let's jam, everyone — Nicky Jam, that is. The Boston-bred reggaetonero is absolutely everywhere lately, and this Saturday he'll perform in the Magic City. Among his recent big-time happenings, Jam was featured on the 2018 FIFA World Cup official song "Live It Up," dropped a U.S. Latin chart-topping album — Phoenix — in 2017, and starred in his own biographical TV series, El Ganador, last year. "El ganador" means "the winner" — and, yeah, he totally is. 8 p.m. Saturday at American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. Tickets cost $51 to $131 via ticketmaster.com. Jesse Scott

Happy Haitian Heritage Month, South Florida. As part of the celebration, the 21st-annual Haitian Compas Festival will kick off Saturday afternoon and run into the wee hours of Sunday. The fest will be packed with more than 20 artists performing, including Harmonki, VayB, DJakout#1, Nu Look, and Gabel. There's also a slew of pre- and afterparties happening at Wynwood Factory Night Club and Club Iguana. 4 p.m. Saturday at Mana Wynwood, 318 23rd St., Miami. Money. Politics. The state of the American public. These are timely topics, and Kings by Sarah Burgess addresses them all. This hilarious and intelligently presented new play follows Kate, who sounds like the quintessential lobbyist. She hates wasting her time on nonwinners and likes schmoozing with the right people. But Kate faces a unique conundrum that gets to her core: Does she side with "the Man" or fight for everything in which she believes? 8 p.m. Saturday and select dates through June 16 at GableStage, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables; gablestage.org. Tickets cost $65. Jesse Scott

Paddletopia debuted in Surfside last year and was an absolute hit, so it's back. The two-day, family-friendly fest will offer free paddleboard and kayak rentals, yoga and fitness classics by Sweat Studio and Modo Yoga, upcycled bracelet and headband workshops from the Full Edit, and even a book swap. There will be giveaways galore too, so bring a bag. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 96th Street Park, 9580 Bay Dr., Surfside. Admission is free; RSVP via eventbrite.com. Jesse Scott

Sunday

At its core, the event has a good message: to get people thinking about heritage-breed pigs and how to support family farmers. 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Biltmore, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables. On the newish-tunes front, the group in 2012 was nominated for a best reggae album Grammy. That album — the EP Miracle — boasts five reggae nuggets that will bring chill to the most stressful of days. 7 p.m. Wednesday at North Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., Miami Beach.
