The first-ever Latinx Art Sessions, a two-day affair exploring Latin identity and contemporary art, kicks off Thursday. Artists and art admirers alike can enjoy studio visits at ArtCenter/South Florida, a session that explores what it's like being stuck between different colonial legacies, and other diversions. Burning Man won't happen till late August in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. In the meantime, local Burners can enjoy the only official Burning Man event in Florida. Encouraged by his parents and documented by his artist mother, he opened his own supper club at the age of 12 and worked in top restaurants around the world before his 16th birthday. Transgender artists have long been ignored, and that's a tragedy, because some stellar art is stemming from this community. Look for it during the fifth TransArt event at Villain Theater. Two Mexican music powerhouses are joining forces for a Miami show. Camila and Sin Bandera will pack a collectively poppy-rock punch on the JLKC stage Saturday evening. With catchy hits such as "Colleccionista de Canciones" and "Mientes," Camila has three Latin Grammys under its belt. The group plans to release its fourthWW studio album later this year. Twenty-thousand runners are lacing up for the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon. Are you joining them? Starting at American Airlines Arena, the course crosses the MacArthur Causeway, loops through Miami Beach, across the Venetian Causeway, down to Coconut Grove, hits the Rickenbacker Causeway, and wraps up at Bayfront Park. Listening to the Miami Symphony Orchestra is a treat, and when the group performs in Collins Park for free, it'll sound that much more beautiful. After about two years in the making, the Citadel is preparing to open. The project, by Nick Hamann and UrbanAtlanticGroup, turns the 60,000-square-foot former Federal Reserve Bank, built in 1951, into a combination food hall, market, and workspace that includes a rooftop bar, daily event activations, and a retail component. To celebrate its upcoming debut, which is expected sometime in February, the Citadel will host the Preview Block Party, a kid- and dog-friendly event complete with music, tastings, and a sneak peek at the Citadel. Food will be available for purchase, and the Indie Flea, bringing 30 vintage and maker vendors, will take over the retail space for the event. In what might be his pre-presidential announcement tour, Biden will give an intimate speech at the Broward Center. South Florida has a pending water crisis — with global warming threatening to destroy us all. Flint, Michigan, is in the midst of its own. Photographer and MacArthur Fellow LaToya Ruby Frazier's latest exhibit, "Flint Is Family," zooms in on the town's crisis and the families affected by it. Specifically, it follows three generations of women and their day-to-day lives.
