Even if you don't know a sloop from a sunfish or couldn't give a shit less about the cut of a jib, it's alright. Almost everyone is into art and alcohol, and both of those elements (in addition to a bunch of expensive boats) will be in full force at Bacardi Miami Sailing Week, hitting Coconut Grove's Kennedy Park from Sunday, March 2, through Saturday, March 8.
There'll be out-of-towners by the hundreds and Wynwood street artists making stuff on sails. Despite your complete lack of navigational skills and a wardrobe bereft of Sperry Top Siders, you should still feel right at home.

"We have about 200 boats coming down for this event from all over the world," says event director Gabriele Pedone.
The gist is, the sailors flock to Kennedy Park where they'll partake in class-based races (we're thinking mostly 1%) throughout the week.
There's also a charity Pro-Am Regatta that's open to the public, a silent auction, private parties and lots of other stuff on the schedule. While the events and races aren't technically open to the public, you can still see the action from areas nearby.
"You can see it from South Bayshore, from the park, from the street," Pedone says.
For regular folks sadly sans schooner, the free-of-charge art exhibit dubbed Wynwood Sails Color the Grove and organized by Cushy Gigs' Alex Vahan, will be on display at Cocowalk all week.
"We're working with 10 street artists from Wynwood. We've asked them to draw on ten different sails and we're going to exhibit the sails around Cocowalk. We're also going to have three live performances during the week which will attract a lot of attention," Pedone says. They'll also have photos from sailing-weeks past on display.
Wynwood meets the yacht club. Now, that's something you don't see every day.
Miami Sailing Week runs from March 2nd through 8th at Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove. The sailing village isn't open to the public, but Sunday's charity Pro-Am Regatta is (you can register online), as is the week-long art display at Cocowalk. Visit their website for deets.
