Miami Lakes Councilman Richard Pulido can't stop acting like the town jerk. The part-time college professor continues to pick on town Clerk Marjorie Tejeda.

Earlier I reported how Tejeda complained to town Manager Frank Bocanegra that Pulido created a hostile work environment for her.

Well at the town council's last meeting this past March 9, Pulido couldn't help himself. I'm sure there are more pressing matters the council has to tend to, but Pulido thought it was important to nitpick the drafting of the minutes of the council's February meeting.

In a passive-aggressive manner, he wanted the town clerk to redraft the minutes to reflect the actual time the meeting was adjourned and to include the names of residents who made public comments.

Pulido's insistence prompted Mayor Michael Pizzi to call the councilman out. 'I'm fine with the way the minutes are," Pizzi said. "I'm going to vote no because I don't want to spend taxpayer resources having the clerk spend hours listening to the tape of the last meeting. That is not a proper use of staff time."

But Pulido didn't budge. "I think having adequate minutes that represent what actually took place is the purpose of the minutes," Pulido said. "It is my desire to have adequate minutes."

Pulido must have picked up some pointers from his friend and admirer county Commissioner Natacha Seijas, who is known for her acidic treatment of county staffers. In a recent edition of local paper the Miami Laker, Seijas penned a letter to the editor praising Pulido. The Laker also ran a picture of Pulido posing with Seijas and county Mayor Carlos Alvarez.

Maybe the two of them can devise a standard of how municipal and county clerks are supposed to draft meeting minutes.
