This isn't a "haha Herald" kind of moment. Even if it is by default, they're the king of daily news in the town. About 50% of the links in our news roundups each morning are to The Herald. So, not to go off into some weird blog ramble on the importance of the press, it's not good for anyone that the Herald continues to shrink its staff. Least of all the people who just lost jobs.

Though there was one major bright spot this week for The Herald: the redesign of their website was generally well received. That's important as newspapers rely more and more for income generated from online ads as print advertising and physical circulation falls off.
