While covering Miami-Dade's back-yard brawl, we come across some real pretenders, dudes who really just can't cut it when they step into the ring. Either they're out of shape or simply don't have a grasp on the basics of fisticuffs. You see a lot of dudes taking wild swings or getting winded after 30 seconds.
Obviously, not all of them are gonna be the next Kimbo Slice or Rene "Level" Martinez. But the back yard's most infamous ringmaster, Dhafir Harris, AKA Dada 5000, is about to give those untrained grapplers and pugilists a place to hone their skills.
Harris has teamed up with Miami-based boxing and strength-conditioning coach Ray Gunz -- who trains Cuban-American IBF and WBA featherweight boxing champ Yuriorkis Gamboa -- to open a gym and fight-training facility in the Perrine Spartan's stomping ground.
Brawlers Extreme MMA & Boxing Academy will officially open this Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. The address is 18621 SW 107th Ave., Miami.
