We could argue all day about communism versus capitalism, but neither is immune to the worldwide economic slump. In fact, it seems communist Cuba is hurting so bad it can't afford one basic necessity: toilet paper.
Reuters reports Cuba might not get enough TP to meet demand until the end of the year.
Cuba makes some of its own toilet paper and imports more. Problem is it doesn't have enough raw materials to make its own, and the country has cut imports by 20 percent owing to depletion of its financial reserves.
So, even though the Castros' economy is heading further down the toilet, they don't have anything to clean it up with afterward.
