This economic situation is so bad you really can't blame people for picking up spare change they find on the street. Unless that person is a cop on the scene of history's most bizarre nickel-related traffic disaster.
On September 17th a truck carrying $182,000 of nickels crashed on I-95 near Mims on its way to Miami, and spread thousands of the shiny coins across the highway. Now a Brevard County deputy is under investigation for taking nickels from the scene. Authorities won't say how much the deputy took, but one man was caught before hauling off $300 worth. That's 6000 Jeffersons.
