We've come to associate former The Price Is Right host Bob Barker with one simple but steadfast political belief: "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered."

But apparently it's not just the price that's right. Barker's politics are too, and he's starring in a new TV ad for Republican congressional candidate David Jolly.

"Because when it comes to Jolly, the choice is right," Barker declares.

Incidentally, today is Bob Barker's 90th birthday, and he's returning to his old TV show this morning to celebrate. The ad will run alongside the program in the Tampa Bay area.

Jolly was a longtime adviser to Rep. Bill Young. Young passed away earlier this year, leaving his Pinellas-area congressional seat up for grabs. Jolly is one of two Republicans seeking the seat. If he beats state Sen. Kathleen Peters in the January 14 primary, he will go on to face former state CFO Alex Sink in the general election.

Though the district leans Republicans, Democrats feel that both demographics and temperament have changed enough in the district to field a well known, competitive candidate like Sink. Like most special elections in between election years, the race is being touted as a bellwether both within in Florida and nationally.
