So thanks to my girl, Afrobella, I was reminded that today is the anniversary of R&B legend Luther Vandross' passing.
The soulful singer who turned the entire urban music world on his ear for 20 years was only 54 at the time of his death in 2005, but he left behind a legacy of music that is unparalleled.
I had the pleasure of meeting Luther Vandross twice and both times he was hilarious, caring, down to earth (although quite a diva), and one of the best male vocalist that I've ever witnessed.
There'll never be another one like him and I can't help but post one of my favorite Luther tunes of all time today. May he rest in peace.
And here's a video of Luther live singing his cover of "A House is Not a Home" and proving why he's the greatest balladeer of his generation--possibly of all time.
