Second Saturday Art Walk: Five Best Parties

Sure, observing sculptures of pregnant ladies and paintings of flying pigs with angelic wings and watching the random street performances of the lynching of Jason Voorhees that go down during Second Saturday Art Walk are an experience in itself.

But the best part about Wynwood's monthly fest is the liquor-fueled parties that kick off once the artsiness and walking comes to an end.

Art Walk + Afterparty at Cafeina. With DJ A-Train. Saturday, October 12, 10 p.m., Cafeina, 297 NW 23rd St., Miami; 305-438-0792; $5 after 10 p.m. Admire the vibrant, traditional Cuban-fused-with-Miami pop art of Carlos A. Navarro, and then stick around for drink specials and "Clubby-Poppy" hits by DJ A-Train.

DZA's House. With Kreap. Presented by Super Music Group. Saturday, October 12, 10 p.m., Bardot, 3456 N. Miami Ave., Miami; 305-576-7750; After you've had your art fix and stocked up on free booze from the galleries, head to Bardot for some house hits by DZA.

The Secret Garden Art Walk Exhibit & Afterparty. With Freak the Disco, Gran Moxy, Negro Fino of Pelvic Thrust, Richy, Ayran, and Mareis. Saturday, October 12, 7 p.m., TSL Lounge, 167 NW 23rd St., Miami; 786-409-2241; Paintings, photography, and musical tunes -- talk about a full sensory overload at the Secret Garden. Get there early at 7 p.m. for an hour-long dose of free cocktails, go on an artistic journey through the galleries that dot NW Second Avenue, and then head back to TSL for more art, drinks, hookah, and beats by Freak the Disco, Negro Fino, and other DJs. Looks like the Secret Garden isn't so secret anymore.

9th Wonder. With Dynas and DJs Klassik, Self Born, and Heron. Saturday, October 12, 10 p.m., The Stage, 170 NE 28th St., Miami; 305-576-9577; Tickets cost $15 plus fees via or $25 at the door. Much like the Mona Lisa, classics are timeless. And for you "hip-hop connoisseurs, appreciators of real DJs," and admirers of all things arty, you're in for a musical treat with 9th Wonder.

Navid Izadi. With Andrew Ward. Saturday, October 12, 11 p.m., Electric Pickle, 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami; 305-456-5613; Tickets cost $15-$20 plus fees via Feelin' Purple 'cause Art Walk is over? Don't be. The crew may not be staying, but they definitely won't be leaving ... They'll just be taking the party to the Pickle.
