Earlier this week Crossfade featured an interview with Mr. Flores and in that same interview we debuted a video of the track "Mean to Be Mean." It was recorded this past fall inone take, like a well-oiled machine, with the lineup of Jose Flores (guitar/vocals), Gus Rod (guitar), Danny Palacios (bass), and Juan Manuel Rotulo (drums).
Here they let some of their more straightforward rock influences (read: mellow Guns and Roses) dictate the path, so it might seem a little off-kilter for older fans. Still, the tongue-in-cheek, uh, cheekiness that made them dears to begin with is still there.
It's, in the end, a satisfying rock and roll song with little frills and sarcastic braggadocio. Good guitars make it easy on repeat. Don't forget that the band's in-store show at Sweat on Saturday is FREE. That's pretty fucking rock and roll if you ask me!
