Miami Music's Craziest Moments of 2015

Maybe it's the heat, or the traffic. The perhaps easily available flakka probably doesn't help either. But Miami has always been a magnet for insanity. So why should we expect any less from Miami's music world?

2015 is officially in the past, but before we leave it there completely, it's time for one more yearly roundup of all the moments in Miami music that made us laugh, cry, or both. These were the nine craziest Miami music moments of 2015.

9. Hillary Clinton and Marc Anthony have an awkward moment.
Music and politics have always mingled. Run the Jewels and the Red hot Chili Peppers have already thrown their support behind Bernie Sanders, and Ted Nugent and Gene Simmons have embraced Donald Trump. But it's been hard for Hillary Clinton to find any love from the music world. That is, until this past October, when Marc Anthony brought the former first lady onstage at his concert at American Airlines Arena and declared her "Salsera de corazon!" It was a little cringeworthy, and their hug lasted three seconds too long.

8. Justin Bieber accused of lip-syncing at Ultra.
Justin Bieber's PR makeover, the one that's currently transforming him into an artist adults don't have to be embarrassed to admit liking, went into full effect in 2015. There was one major slip-up, though. He made a surprise appearance at Ultra this past March. He jumped onstage unannounced during Skrillex's set. And at one point, he dropped the mic while his vocals continued without him.
7. Grand Central closes.
It was the toughest closure of the year. After five years of bringing great acts to Miami, Grand Central closed its doors for a final time this past September, leaving a huge void in Miami for national, international, and local acts with enough of a following to pack a large room but not yet able to take over the Fillmore.

6. Lil Wayne has a $30 million art collection?
After Lil Wayne didn't pay $2 million he owed for a leased private jet, a judge ordered the raiding of his Miami Beach mansion and confiscated what TMZ reported to be $30 million worth of art. Basically, it was a legal robbery. But that's why you pay your bills. This was also not the first time Miami Beach Police stormed the Wayne mansion. In March of this year, the rapper was "swatted," when someone reported a false report of a shooting at his home.

5. Taylor Swift brings every Miami celebrity save Gloria Estefan onstage.
On the one-year anniversary of 1989, T Swizzle took the stage of American Airlines arena, and as is her custom, she brought as many famous friends as she could fit onstage with her. So out came Dwyane Wade, who offered Taylor a Miami Heat jersey with the unlucky number 13. Then it was Pitbull's turn. And finally Ricky Martin. By that time, the vocal cords of the tween audience were fried like chicken. Sadly, she neglected to pay tribute to the queen of Miami, Gloria Estefan.

4. On Your Feet! opens on Broadway.
But don't feel too bad for Gloria. While T Swizzle might not have shown her respect, the Estefans have received plenty of love with a Broadway musical that opened in November. It tells their life stories to the soundtrack of their music and has received much critical acclaim. Gloria and Emilio also ended the year with news that the two would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom award from President Obama. Not too shabby.

3. Woman goes overboard in Mad Decent Boat Party.
Diplo's Mad Decent Boat Party, the November Caribbean EDM cruise that left from the Port of Miami bound for the Mexican island of Cozumel, had to be called short when a woman fell overboard. Her body has not been found, and the FBI is continuing to investigate her death.

2. Rick Ross arrested for kidnapping.
This past June, U.S. marshals apprehended the Bawse on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery. According to the warrant, Rick Ross assaulted his groundskeeper Jonathan Zamudio, when he had a party at Ross' mansion without permission. He struck Zamudio "with a handgun, specifically a Glock 17, 9mm, black in color, and in doing so caused two chipped teeth, jaw injury, neck injury, and multiple scratches and contusions. The victim lost the use of his jaw and is restricted to soft foods and liquid diet only as a result of not being able to chew food."

1. Stitches goes night-night outside of Story.
If Stitches doesn't make it in the music world, he could fill a niche in comedy now that Ali G seems to be in retirement. A few weeks ago, Stitches waited outside the South Beach nightclub Story in the hopes of fighting fellow rapper the Game. The only problem was that the bouncers at Story weren't letting Stitches in. Stitches then filmed himself waiting outside very patiently for hours and hours. Finally, Stitches saw his nemesis. He ran out of his car and quickly got knocked out cold by the Game's manager, Cash Jones McElroy. To literally add insult to injury, Stitches was arrested when he woke up and is shown in the mug shot above with a fat lip, and, in what might be the best example of life imitating art ever, actual stitches.
