Lee Burridge and Danny Howells for Just $10 This Saturday at the Vagabond

The UK-born DJ Lee Burridge has become something of a semi-resident at the Vagabond, touching down in downtown Miami every couple months or so. Perhaps that's because he recently relocated to New York. But also, the Vagabond's cozy dancefloor and famously up-for-it Saturday crowd lends itself well to Burridge's nuanced, slowly building sets. Burridge's style usually sits in the gray area between stripped-down house and techno, probably best captured to date on his sprawling, three-disc 2007 mix, Balance 012. It was alternately minimal, spaced-out, and dubby, and remains a pretty current snapshot of his live sets.

The bonus this Saturday is a co-headlining slot by fellow Brit Danny Howells. In the '90s, Howells played what some folks called "deep trance." When "trance" became a four-letter word, though, Howells' style eventually shifted, and although these day's it's slightly techier and more tribal, it still remains more lush and synth-heavy than pal Burridge's. Miami loves Howells, and he loves the city back; his Global Underground 027: Miami mix captured a live set at Club Space in 2004. Saturday night presents one of the cheapest opportunities to see him play -- tickets are just $10 in advance. Act fast and buy in advance to avoid getting stuck in the long queue of hopefuls on Fourteenth Street.
