Taurus Beer & Whiskey House Launches Boozy Brunch

One of the oldest locales in Coconut Grove is finally feeding into Miami's brunch craze. Taurus Beer & Whiskey House, known for its selection of more than 100 whiskies and late-night bar bites, is joining a smattering of other Grove restaurants, like Glass and Vine, Greenstreet, and Ariete, which offer brunch spreads on Saturdays and Sundays too.

As one of Miami's most established bars, Taurus, which cycled through names and ownership through the years, has served a myriad of spirits for nearly a century. Though the kitchen is open daily, this is the first time Taurus will open its kitchen at noon to serve. 

The meal, which launched September 17, features a nine-plate menu, along with desserts, sides, and a boozy pairing. During brunch, find $19 all-you-can-drink specials including a house-infused jalapeƱo vodka bloody mary; a bacon rye whiskey old-fashioned; Warsteiner grapefruit radler; mimosas; and brews. Mix and match alcohol varieties until the close of brunch at 4 p.m.

Its a la carte menu offers more breakfast than lunch items, but features a burger and a chicken sandwich for diners who would prefer to forego eggs and bacon. Plates are large, so consider sharing a few instead of sticking to just one.

Start with the breakfast fritas ($13), which are hugged in-between two buttery and toasted English muffins and stuffed with a thick chorizo and pork patty, a sunny side up egg, and a handful of crunchy papitas. Two are served with each order.
Then, snag a sweet and savory order of Taurus' chicken and waffles ($15), where a large crispy thigh is placed on top of four warm waffles showered with sweet bay leaf honey. Drop the savory for something wholly sweet such as a stack of pancakes ($10), which are finished with Flordian whipped butter and Goshen Farms' maple syrup.
If lunch is your meal of choice, consider a double-patty chug burger ($15) melted with American cheese; or  shrimp and grits ($19), something heartier with a hint of breakfast flair. It's made with shrimp, ham hock broth, and tamal en cazuela, a savory cornmeal dough.
For dessert, try the French toast sticks ($12). They're bite-sized and perfect for sharing. They come with a cup of syrup too.

Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., with all-you-can-drink specials extending until 4 p.m. For more information, visit
