New Times is known as much for its great food-and-beverage events as it is for its fantastic food coverage. Now a new event joins the roster of parties such as Iron Fork, Brew at the Zoo, and Beerfest.
On Wednesday, September 21, from 7 to 10 p.m., E.A.T! will take the BB&T Center in Sunrise by storm with more than 40 local restaurants offering the best bites.
In addition to nonstop food, unlimited drinks, and live entertainment, the event will feature a live chef battle between two of South Florida's most exciting young chefs. Nuno Grullon of the soon-to-open Café Roval and Ryan Martin of 180 Degrees at the DRB will compete for the right to be the inaugural E.A.T! champion.
A Massachusetts native, Martin attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., before moving to New York City, where he attended the former French Culinary Institute, now known as the International Culinary Center. Martin owns the downtown Miami gastropub 180 Degrees at the DRB, which won New Times' Best Burger award in 2015 for its 50/50 burger.
Grullon rose to fame as a featured chef at Wynwood's R House on Bravo's Best New Restaurant. The toque, whose resumé includes Morton's Cafe Tabac and DeVito's, is set to open Mark Soyka's Café Roval on the Upper Eastside in October, with dishes inspired by "heritage, passion, and creative freedom."
General-admission tickets cost only $25 and include unlimited food. But this weekend only, take advantage of a special two-for-one deal. That means you'll get two tickets to the event for only $25. This offer is good only until September 11 at 10 p.m., while supplies last. To take advantage of this special offer, visit ticketmaster.com now.
