Well, sometimes you can (relive an entire show, not get back together with your high-school sweetheart who's probably married by now).
All the Netflix revivals happening lately — Fuller House premiering Friday and a new Gilmore Girls announcement every other day — got us thinking. Which dormant Miami-based shows do we wish we could relive? Some of the many shows based in Miami tickled our pickle just right, and it would be ideal if Netflix decided to remake an old Magic City show, maybe even film locally.
We need something new to binge-watch to stop thinking about Making a Murderer.
9. Dexter
Few shows in the history of television have nose-dived into the sort of
Then it all went to crap.
Whether the cause was writer shakeups or not knowing when to quit, Dexter just wasn't the same in its last few seasons. That doesn't change the fact that the initial story was ingenious. If the right actor took on the role of a young Dexter Morgan, perhaps, an origin focus could be easily made into something that would be not only
8. Nip/Tuck
Nip/Tuck is another show that began strong and then faded into something unrecognizable. So why not pick up the pieces and start all over again? Nothing says Miami quite like a South Beach backdrop and plastic surgery, and Nip/Tuck had plenty of both. But
And, Netflix, don't pick up and move the show from its Miami location to Los Angeles four seasons in like the original did, 'kay? Let's keep the crazy plastic-surgery drama local.
7. Flipper
NBC's Flipper was appointment television from 1964 to 1967. Flipper was mostly filmed in Miami and Key Biscayne, with some scenes shot at Miami Seaquarium, where there's still a Flipper-themed show in the lagoon. There are so, so many things for adults to watch on Netflix. And there are ample

5. I Love Lucy
Did you know that a some episodes of I Love Lucy where filmed in Miami? Of course you didn't — why would you know that? Well, it happened, so we're claiming it as a Miami show that Netflix should revive because, well, your grandma. But we vote the reboot would be shot 100 percent in Miami instead of occasional episodes. With the right actors, I Love Lucy could be a hit. Think Modern Family but, um, a little less modern.
4. Empty Nest
Empty Nest was so Miami. Not the Miami everyone else in the country thinks about that includes South Beach skylines and overly tanned beached babes, but the one that includes your grandparents' everyday life.
Empty Nest was a spinoff of Golden Girls and included some cameos by the cast of that show. Everyone remembers the theme song, but they can't put their finger on how that ear worm got planted. Maybe your babysitter made you watch it. Maybe your parents used to watch it in the other room. Whatever it was, it became one of the most popular shows based in Miami. A revival with the right actors and a rejuvenated 2016-style script, Empty Nest could be another one of those wholesome shows your parents would eat up if it were available on Netflix.
3. Miami Vice
Duh, right? There have been attempts to revive Miami Vice (who remembers that dreadful 2006 movie?), but Netflix might be the best place to pull it off right. Releasing an entire season of the classic TV hit would make for a much easier watch than a silly movie starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx.
Undercover-cop stories always have room for error, and when they're set in Miami, plenty of interesting plots could be explored. Netflix might even be able to get Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas to reprise their roles on the show and somehow continue the original — sort of how Limitless has done on CBS with Bradley Cooper.
Seriously, if CBS can do it, you can do it better, Netflix.
2. ¿Qué Pasa, U.S.A.?
How many bilingual comedies are on TV right now? We'll wait while you rack your brain.
What better show to reboot than a show so many people in Miami remember as one of their favorites? And the timing of a return of ¿Qué Pasa, U.S.A.? couldn't be more perfect with the new Cuba-U.S. relations. A humorous Little Havana family struggling to adapt to an ever-changing South Florida would make for a hilarious Latin twist on a Modern Family-like show.
1. Golden Girls
Spoiler alert: The revival would obviously star a different cast. A reinvented Golden Girls would more accurately depict Miami-Dade County than HBO's Ballers portrays the Magic City. You see all of those high-rises covering the coast of South Florida? They're mostly occupied by retired folks, so it's damn time we bring back a family-friendly show your grandma in Miami Gardens would love to watch. Golden Girls is a cult classic, and if Netflix were to bring it back — whether you admit it or not — you would watch.
