Miami's New Year's Eve 2016 Dinner Guide

It's kinda hard to believe, but 2015 is almost gone. In two short weeks, we'll be greeting 2016 and all the promise it brings. 

Of course, now is the time to make your celebration plans.

If you're into heading out to a club or music venue, check out our list of New Year's even parties. If you're into having a decadent meal and some champagne, most of Miami's best restaurants are offering multicourse dinners, lavish buffets, or simple (affordable) à la carte menus for the biggest night of the year. Many restaurants also feature DJs and dancing, so you can make an entire night of it. 

Here's a list of the best ways you can ring in the New Year with a wonderful meal in Miami. All prices quotes do not include tax and gratuity, and reservations are strongly suggested — in other words, don't wait until the last minute to make your plans, because restaurants fill up fast.

94th Aero Squadron Restaurant

This aviation-themed restaurant overlooking Miami International Airport's runways offers a New Year's Eve celebration with a full buffet, an open bar, live music, and a champagne toast at midnight. Dinner is from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and costs $150 per person. 

Apeiro Kitchen & Bar
Celebrate New Year's Eve at Apeiro Kitchen & Bar with a Mediterranean-inspired four-course dinner for $65 per person.

Area 31
Ring in the New Year with a view at Area 31's five-course tasting dinner. For $195 per person, enjoy A5 Kobe beef with white alba truffle, quail egg, and sevruga caviar for the first course; “Delicacies of the Ocean,” featuring octopus, salmon, lionfish, scallops, and grouper, for the second course; ricotta gnocchi with crawfish, morels, and foie gras for the third course; and your choice of "confit" veal breast with chanterelle mushrooms or pike perch with kabocha squash curry and harissa aioli for the fourth course. For dessert, there's a chocolate extravaganza. Each couple will also receive a split of Laurent Perrier Brut and will enjoy live DJ entertainment.

Atrio Restaurant & Wine Room
Atrio's soiree includes a five-course meal featuring amuse-bouches; coconut lobster bisque with champagne lobster melting jelly; cured wild Scottish salmon with a truffle potato waffle, green apple, and celeriac horseradish rémoulade; grilled Atlantic turbot with champagne mussels marinière, watercress pesto, and sun-dried tomato toast; and pan-seared beef tenderloin with glazed purple baby carrots, exotic mushroom-and-truffle roll, oyster tempura, and cocoa beef jus. For dessert, there's a trio of curry and sea salt chocolate coconut crème; raspberry and champagne jelly; and red velvet cake. Dinner costs $225 per adult, which includes half a bottle of Veuve Clicquot YL, $160 for those under 21, and $45 for children under 5. 

New Year's Eve dinner at Azul has two seatings. The first seating ($95) runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and includes a glass of Piper-Heidsieck champagne and a menu that includes yellowfin tuna with bell pepper, charred scallion, and kaffir lime for the first course. The second course is dry-aged beef with truffle dashi, parsley root, and whipped tofu. Dessert is the "sweet dream," featuring warm fallen chocolate soufflé, chicory ice cream, morello cherry and white chocolate cloud, and cassis sorbet.

The second seating ($395) begins at 9 p.m. and includes a bottle of Charles Heidsieck champagne and admission to MO Bar + Lounge's New Year's Eve celebration. Enjoy oysters with yuzu jam and verjus for the first course and yellowfin tuna with bell pepper, charred scallion, and kaffir lime for the second course. A soup of caramelized sweet potato with braised goat, goat feta, and pomegranate follows. Alaskan king crab with caviar, sudachi ponzu, and Asian pear is offered for the fourth course. The fifth course includes dry-aged beef with truffle dashi, parsley root, and whipped tofu. Top your meal off with the midnight "sweet dream."

Barton G.
Barton G. is hosting two seatings on New Year's Eve. The early seating runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and all diners must be finished by 9 p.m. The second seating begins at 9 p.m. with a 21-and-over party that includes a DJ, a champagne toast, and party favors for a $35 cover in addition to your à la carte meal. Reservations are required.

Bayfront Park's Norwegian Worldwide Food & Wine Party

Join host Pitbull for Miami's first New Year's Eve food festival. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend this event at Bayfront Park, which begins at 4 p.m. for VIP ticketholders (6:30 p.m. for general-admission ticketholders). General admission tickets cost $150 per person, and VIP tickets cost $500 per person and include food, wine, and spirits samples and the Pitbull concert. Tickets are available at 

The Bazaar by José Andrés
Indulge in a 13-course tasting menu during the first seating ($125), which runs from 6 to 7 p.m. and includes a champagne toast and entrance to the Hyde Beach party upon request. A second seating ($300) runs from 9:30 to 11 p.m. and features a 16-course tasting menu (including a caviar course), a champagne toast, and entrance to the Hyde Beach party. 

Biltmore Hotel & Resort
The Biltmore gala ($225 to $350) is strictly for adults and teens, and festivities begin at 8:30 p.m. The dinner menu includes maple leaf duck rillettes cornet with citrus suckle pear and dried raspberries; pan-seared sea scallop with roasted wild mushroom and leek flan, parsnip crisp, trout roe, and applewood bacon foam; slow-roasted organic baby beets with spaghetti carrots and heirloom tomatoes served with organic greens, ginger yogurt dressing, and toasted cashew dust; coffee-crusted zabuton of beef served with lobster thermidor tartlet, asparagus and haricot vert bundle, roasted thyme baby carrots, and Bordelaise sauce; and a chocolate mousse dome served with chocolate fondant cake, a crisp hazelnut cookie, milk chocolate macaron, and vanilla chantilly for dessert.

For children, the Biltmore Buddies' "Neverland Bash" ($75) will take place in the Danielson Gallery, featuring festive décor, interactive activities, and a kids’ buffet. The bash will conclude at 11:30 p.m. in time for the kids to enjoy the fireworks on the terrace with their families. At midnight, fireworks will light up the sky over the golf course, and confetti will fill the ballroom. 

BLT Steak
Enjoy a four-course meal ($295) beginning with an amuse-bouche trio of uni sashimi with tamarind purée, chives, and dashi; Spanish octopus tiradito with avocado mousse, cilantro emulsion, and citrus sauce; and foie gras and fig empanada with duck prosciutto and frissée. Then, choose from crispy duck confit with roasted vegetables, local arugula, brown butter vinaigrette, and truffles or coconut Maine lobster ceviche with cilantro, red onion, sweet potato, and grapefruit for the first course. Second course offerings are pan-roasted halibut with royal red shrimp, clams, mussels, and ají amarillo sauce or Jackman Ranch Wagyu spinalis steak with bordelaise sauce and crispy shallot rings. Choose from the brown-butter-roasted Bosc pear pavlova with vanilla meringue and confit almonds, or the Valrhona dark chocolate carre with caramel ice cream and fleur de sel for dessert. Finish off your meal with a mignardises trio or passionfruit pâté de fruit, key lime tartlet, and guava macaroon. A Laurent Perrier champagne toast is also included. 

Bourbon Steak

Early dinner (between 6 and 7:30 p.m., includes a three-course menu for $125. A late seating (between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.) is $275 and includes a five-course menu, party favors and a glass of champagne at midnight. 

Crazy About You
There are two seatings for New Year's dinner. The first seating ($75) is for reservations between 6 and 7 p.m. and the second seating runs between 9 and 10 p.m. A surf and turf dinner includes a six-ounce filet mignon with a mushroom demi-glaze and jumbo garlic shrimp served with grilled asparagus and potatoes au-gratin. For dessert, there's Creole bread pudding drizzled with Kentucky bourbon sauce and vanilla bean ice cream. 

DB Bistro Moderne
DB Bistro Moderne offers a five-course, prix-fixe dinner menu for $195 per person, featuring smoked sturgeon with fingerling, champagne sabayon, and caviar; squab and foie gras terrine with cherry, ramp, and watermelon radish; black truffle and celery root ravioli with black truffle, duck prosciutto, and leek; bacon-wrapped monkfish with lobster, winter squash, and black pepper jus; beef duo with roasted tenderloin, braised short rib, sweet potato, and treviso; and chocolate candy bar with hazelnut genoise, chocolate amer mousse, candied hazelnuts, and passion-banana sorbet. Vegetarian options are also available. Toast to 2016 with a complimentary glass of champagne.

Devon Seafood & Steak
New Year's Eve dinner includes a lobster or bone-in filet special served with two seasonal sides for $58; Devon's regular à la carte menu is also available. 

Dolores, but You Can Call Me Lolita
A surf-and-turf dinner featuring a six-ounce filet mignon with a mushroom demi-glaze and jumbo garlic shrimp served with grilled asparagus and potatoes au gratin is the star attraction. Dine between 6 and 7 p.m. and dinner is $75. DIne from 8 to 10 p.m. and dinner is $95 and includes a champagne toast. 

Dolce Italian
Dolce Italian will offer a five-course dinner menu that includes roasted scallops with a sunchoke purée, cannelloni alla piemontese, and a six-ounce filet mignon with seared foie gras and black truffles. To finish their meal, guests will enjoy panettone for dessert served over crème anglaise and homemade vanilla ice cream. Two dinner seatings are available from 6 to 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to midnight. The prix-fixe menu is $150 for adults and $75 for children. 

Driftwood Room
Come in for an early dinner from 7 to 9 p.m. ($275) or a late dinner from 9:30 p.m. to midnight ($375) both packages include a bottle for champagne. An extra $100 gets you a ticket into the Great Gatsby-inspired poolside party at the Nautilus Hotel.

Edge Steak & Bar
Enjoy your choice of a four ($150) or five-course dinner ($190). A champagne toast is included, followed by a party of the Edge terrace at 10 p.m. that features fire pits, champagne toasts, and a great view. 

The Forge Restaurant/Wine Bar
Starting at 9 p.m., the Forge hosts a multi-course dinner ($350) complete with unlimited Veuve Clicquot, party favors, dancing, and a four-course dinner featuring a tasting plate for the first course including Caesar salad, grilled shrimp with cocktail sauce, crab cake, and crème fraîche flan with osetra caviar and red onion for the first course. Your choice of white truffle risotto or foie gras torchon for the second course. Your choice of red snapper with butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, and wild mushroom consommé; butter-poached lobster with red quinoa, green asparagus, and fine herb emulsion; or Creekstone Farms filet mignon with potato pave, rainbow Swiss chard, and Grand Mariner green peppercorn sauce for the third course. And a New Year celebration dessert trio with cheesecake, carrot cake, flourless chocolate, and macarons for the table for dessert.

Sit at the bar starting at 10 p.m. for passed canapés and a tasting plate featuring Caesar salad, grilled shrimp with cocktail sauce, crab cake, and crème fraîche flan with osetra caviar and red onion, and your choice of premium open bar from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. or a bottle of Veuve Clicquot per couple ($175). For $95, you can hang at the bar with unlimited premium  cocktails from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Fresh American Bistro at Sole on the Ocean
Choose from a three- or four-course menu that includes Scottish smoked salmon baluchon, braised halibut filet, crusted lamb loin, and foie gras terrine. For dessert, guests can delve into a crisp chocolate mikado or a raspberry macaron.The first seating ($125) is available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and features a three-course, prix-fixe menu with special surprise performances. The second seating ($195) offers a four-course menu from 8 p.m. to midnight and features live performances from some of Miami’s most popular female impersonators. Reservations are required. 

Two seatings are available for New Year's Eve at Hakkasan at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The first seating ($195) runs from 6 to 7:20 p.m. and includes a four-course menu. The second seating ($295) starts at 8:30 p.m. and includes a five-course menu. 

Il Mulino New York
Il Mulino offers a four-course dinner with your choice of burrata served with tomato and frisee; langostino with white wine and garlic served over spinach; ravioli ai porcini with champagne truffle cream sauce; prosciutto e melone (sliced prosciutto served with melon and berries); or risotto lobster sauce (risotto with pieces of lobster drizzled in a light lobster broth) for the primi dish. Choose from the traditional Caesar salad or rucola (baby arugula) with olive oil and fresh lemon topped with shaved aged parmesan cheese for the secondi dish. For the entrée, pick your choice of piccata di pollo al limone, chicken breast sauteed in a white lemon sauce; pollo fra' diavolo sauteed with Italian sausage, broccoli, zucchini, and garlic in a spicy tomato sauce; cotoletta alla salvia, single-cut veal chop grilled with sage and garlic served with roasted potatoes; filetto di manzo alla fiorentina, 12-ounce filet of beef with shallots, sage, and wine; snapper marechiara in a light marinara sauce with baby shrimp and clams; half rack of lamb with Dijon mustard glazed lightly breaded in a Barolo wine sauce; salmone alla griglia with porcini mushrooms sauteed in light garlic and olive oil served over broccoli rabe; or scampi alla francese with jumbo shrimp in a lemon white wine sauce with risotto. Top off your meal with a selection of dolci assortiti featuring tiramisu, Italian cheesecake, panna cotta, and flour less chocolate cake. The first seating ($175) is from 5:30 to 7:30; the second seating ($275) begins at 8:30 p.m. and includes a champagne toast, live music, and party favors. 

John Martin's Irish Pub
John Martin's is probably the only Miami-area restaurant that features a bagpiper on New Year's Eve. In addition, at 8 p.m., enjoy a three-course dinner for $65 with DJ (bagpipe entertainment included). 

La Mar by Gaston Acurio
Celebrate with a four-course dinner ($150) and a chicha morada champagne cocktail. Dinner starts at 9 p.m. and includes a mini pork belly bun for the amuse-bouche. Choose from crispy jumbo shrimp with quinoa, sweet potato, chicha morada, and green mango chalaquita; causa verde with pesto, stone crab, salmon caviar, avocado, and huancania; or ceviche salad with sunchoke teche de tigre, mushrooms, avocado, grilled squash, asparagus, and radish for the first course. For the second course, choose from the the grouper and the vongole served with quinoa and potato kapchi with chupe sauce; grilled lobster with green beans, creamy rice, and caucau sauce; or the Wagyu beef with modena balsamic vinegar, polenta fries, and aji amarilllo bearnaise. Top off your meal with the dessert trio featuring frozen tiramisu with Peruvian coffee ice cream and gingerbread, caramel mango sable with coconut sorbet and gold passion fruit gel, and lime and red berries compote with Illanka chocolate whipped ganache. 

Larios on the Beach
Lario's is hosting a four-course meal ($175) with a bottle of champagne for two and your choice of appetizers including the NYE Cuban combo featuring Larios' award-winning Serrano ham croquetas, bacon-wrapped maduros, and Kobe beef empanadas; lechon flatbread; tostones rellenos with ropa vieja; and ceviche. Then, choose between the lobster bisque or avocado salad. Entrée options include roasted lechon with tostones and mojo, a porterhouse, Chilean sea bass, or zarzuela. Finish your meal on a sweet note with your choice of los postres de las tres abuelas featuring flan, natilla, and arroz con leche, or the chocolate tulips. 

Michael Mina 74

Michael Mina 74 at the Fontainebleau is offering a three-course menu ($150) starting at 6 p.m. Appetizer choices include peekytoe crab salad with avocado, citrus, and petite herbs; roasted beet with Humbolt fog, charred onion, and sunflower seeds; or foie torchon with cherry, pistachio, fresno chili, and brioche. Entrée choices include Atlantic sea bass with cauliflower, sultana, and herb emulsion; duck breast with baby carrots, confit ravioli, and huckleberry; or filet mignon served with duck fat fries and a trio of dipping sauces. For dessert, guests will have a choice of chocolate torte with fresh raspberries and white chocolate frozen espuma or NYE trifle with mandarin jelly, citrus panna cotta, angel food cake, and meringue

Celebrate New Year's in style with a four-course meal featuring burrata salad, your choice of two small plates (truffle lobster mac 'n' cheese, tuna tartar, sea bass or shrimp ceviche, lobster croquettes, spicy meatballs, and meat carpaccio), your choice of two large plates (New York strip steak, seared scallops, lobster and seafood risotto, and maple-glazed sea bass), and chocolate napoleon and Oreo cheesecake for dessert; a bottle of prosecco, and party favors during the second and third seating, and complimentary admission to the Eighteenth Lounge for late-night celebration. The first seating runs from 6 to 6:30 p.m and is $100 per couple. The second seating runs from 8 to 8:30 p.m. and is $175 per couple. The third seating runs from 10 to 10:30 p.m. and is $250 per couple. 

Rosa Mexicano
For a casual New Year's, Rosa Mexicano will offer its à la carte menu, as well as a four-course family-style holiday menu ($30 per person) featuring guacamole en molcajete, lobster, and short rib flautas, your choice of entrée, and churros en bolsa and tres leches for dessert. 

Rusty Pelican
Celebrate a Broadway-themed New Year's eve with a five-course dinner from land or sea with a bottle of champagne. Seating for Broadway's 2016 Opening Night dinner ($175) begins at 10 p.m. The land menu includes American-style Kobe beef tataki with muscat grape, pickled oyster mushroom, lemon aioli, and elephant garlic chips for the first course. Spanish Iberico pork loin with baby black knight carrots, and foie gras mousse with a quail chorizo vinaigrette is the second course. Hand-rolled white truffle prime beef tenderloin with homemade Japanse ponzu gelee is the third course, and organic grass-fed 14-ounce dry-aged New York steak and purple asparagus with burnt lemon béarnaise is the entrée. There's chocolate decadence for dessert. The sea menu includes yuzu marinated hamachi with Russian Ostera caviar served with chili-spiced sesame oil sand for the first course. Ten-year Tawny Port wine-steamed razor clams served with a champagne foam and finger limes is the the second course. One-hundred-and-fifty-year-old Geoduck ceviche with kaffir lime and mandarin orange served with charred shishito pepper and crispy geoduck is the third course. The entrée is crispy lionfish with parsnip leek puree, sautéed rainbow Swiss chard, and black garlic, with chocolate decadence for dessert.

The Times Square Gala at the Grand Ballroom ($250) will feature views of the city lights and a buffet with an array of stations including entrée and beverage selections; seating begins at 9 p.m.

Enjoy an Italian-inspired dinner at Scott Conant's Fontainebleau restaurant. A regional Italian menu is served, featuring a four-course menu from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for $195. The second seating starts at 8:30 p.m. and includes a five-course meal for $295. The first seating ($195) runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and includes a four-course menu. The second seating ($295) starts at 8:30 p.m. and includes a five-course menu. 

Enjoy a four ($125) or five-course ($150) meal from chef Michelle Bernstein's restaurant at the Thompson Miami Beach hotel, featuring shaved kona kampachi with osetra caviar, preserved lemon, and celery leaf; or sunchoke bisque with whipped cream and black truffle for the first course. St. Andre agnolotti with black garlic, black truffle, and pork rind; squid ink spaghettini with uni butter, charred calamari, and chili caviar; or white truffle pappardelle (for a $25 supplement) for the second course. For the third course, enjoy grilled wreckfish with saffron broth and lardo or Jackman Ranch New York strip with buttermilk pommes puree, savoy spinach, and bordelaise sauce. Assorted desserts by chef Richard Vaughn complete the fourth course. The fifth course option includes your choice of butter poached Maine lobster with scallop mousse, roasted gem lettuce, and vermouth butter, or seared Hudson Valley foie gras with braised cabbage, spiced apple jus, and brioche crisp. STK Miami
Enjoy a masquerade-themed dinner with a special DJ performance, live entertainment, a countdown, complimentary midnight toast, and optional dinner and open bar packages. There are two dinner seatings available. The first seating ($125) runs from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and includes a four-course meal and glass of champagne. The second seating ($195) runs from 9 to 10:30 p.m. and includes a five-course meal and glass of champagne. The open bar package ($75) runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Stripsteak by Michael Mina

Enjoy a classic steak house experience on New Year's at Stripsteak at the Fontainebleau. There are two dinner seatings. The first seating ($195) runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and includes a four-course menu. The second seating ($295) starts at 8:30 p.m. and includes a five-course menu. Highlights include fingerling potatoes with white asparagus, crispy egg yolk and black truffle; poached halibut with celery root, Brussels leaves, and buerre blanc; wood-grilled filet mignon with parsnip puree, granny smith apple, horseradish and bordelaise; and a chocolate bar with intense chocolate mousse, yuzu curd, and hazelnut crunch.

Terrazza at Shore Club
Enjoy a four-course meal at Terrazza, featuring an antipasti platter for two with a selection of imported charcuterie and cheeses as the appetizer. Your choice of lobster salad , truffle caprese, or Wagyu carpaccio as the salad course. Crab ravioli, halibut, organic chicken with foie gras, or an 18-ounce delmonico with lobster mash, and green peppercorn sauce as the entrée. For dessert, there's chocolate crunch cake with pomegranate sauce, blueberry compote, and candied pecans, or tiramisu cheesecake with amaretti cookie crust, chocolate espresso beans, and white chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert. Dinner is $195 and guarantees admission to the pool party at the Shore Club, plus a complimentary New Year's champagne toast at midnight.

Uvaggio Wine Bar
For a chill New Year's celebration, join Dick and Jenny Doré from Foxen Wines for a five-course meal and wine pairing. Dinner is 7 to 10:30 p.m. and is $150 per person.  

Vagabond Restaurant and Bar
Enjoy an à la carte menu from executive chef Alex Chang that features decadent specials like oysters on the half shell, stone crabs, and dry-aged rib-eye. Then, enjoy a no-cover party at the hotel's pool with DJ Arthur Baker and a complimentary toast at midnight.
